A PLAY-BY-PLAY OF FUNDRAISING FOR MATR VENTURES IN NYC MARCH 2022 - THE GOOD, BAD & UGLY

My meetings with investors in New York was another great experience. AS ALWAYS ... I'm forever a student of the game of business.

- 8 in-person meetings were booked on my calendar in late March.
- 3 meetings run
- 2 meetings have been rescheduled to zoom
- 2 in-person meetings have been rescheduled for my next trip to New York
- 1 meeting = no show


THE GOOD

- 2 meetings run resulted in a verbal yes - with conditions
- 1 meeting run resulted in the investor wanting to meet when I'm back in NYC
- 2 meetings rescheduled to zoom have been rebooked
- 2 meetings rescheduled for my next trip to NYC need to be rebooked. I'm on it today
- After 2 years of virtual meetings, I met with a brilliant leader in the product space. Yes, to collabs Salina
Brown
- I met a brilliant leader of a tech org ... more to come on this
- I met 2 powerhouse guys in the fintech/web3 infrastructure space. Fintech is evolving at warp speeds ... sheesh.


THE BAD

- 1 investor ghosted me
- I missed a meeting w Gean Martinez . My sincerest apologies. I promise we'll meet when I'm back in town
- Weather = cold. I'm Brazilian so it's always a challenge to stay fly when the sun isn't shining. But ... I'm still fly
- Too much fast food + no workouts. I felt depleted by the end of the trip
- At times I was overwhelmed with juggling the needs of my software corp and investor meetings
- I'm overdue for hiring an EA. This is a must for 2022


THE UGLY

- Nothing ugly and I'm super grateful


8 MONTHS of active fundraising. 3 things STAND OUT SO FAR

- As a 1st-time fund, we're a startup in many respects.
- Approx 1/2 of investors find comfort in knowing that 2 of 3 General Partners on our team have a track record as Angel investors.
- Approx 1/2 of the investors want to leverage me and it's not about the fund.
